My background

I started my career as an NCTJ-trained journalist back in 2012, writing for titles such as the Yorkshire Evening Post, Information Age magazine, and TechRadar.

Five years later, I joined a government-backed scale-up support organisation called Tech North (later relaunched with a national focus as Tech Nation).

There, I spent two years interviewing and telling the stories of ambitious tech companies building in the North of England.

In recent years, I’ve been working for the “dark side”, as they say – writing and producing marketing content and handling in-house PR for a tech consultancy.

I’ve attended events in and around Leeds along the way, where I’ve seen innovative uses of AI by junior hires, senior execs, and everyone inbetween.

What’s this site all about, then?

I launched KaneOnAI.com with a dual purpose. First, to spotlight the companies and individuals shaping the future of tech and AI in the North.

And second, to share practical AI insights drawn from conversations with talented people across the region, encouraging more transparent knowledge-sharing within the tech community.
